Terms of Service

These terms apply when you add or use the ProTranslate Discord bot ("the Bot"). By adding the Bot to a server or using its commands, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Bot.

1. What the Bot does

The Bot translates messages in Discord servers using AI translation. Auto-translation only starts after a server administrator runs /run, and it only works on new messages sent after that. The /translate command translates text you give it on demand.

2. Who can use it

• You must follow the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
• You must be old enough to use Discord in your country (at least 13).
• Commands that change the Bot's settings (/run, /stop, /target, /notarget) are limited to members with the Manage Server permission.

3. Server administrators

If you turn on auto-translation, you are responsible for making sure your server members know that their messages are read and translated by the Bot, and that their text is sent to third-party AI providers to do this (see our Privacy Policy). Don't use the Bot in places where you are not allowed to do this.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Bot to harass, threaten or harm anyone, or to spread illegal content.
• Try to break, overload, spam, or exploit the Bot or its commands.
• Try to trick the Bot into doing things it is not meant to do.
• Use the Bot to break any law or Discord's rules.

We may block servers or users who break these rules.

5. Translation accuracy

Translations are made by AI and can be wrong, miss context, or misunderstand slang. Don't rely on the Bot for important, legal, medical, or safety-related communication. Always double-check anything that matters.

6. Availability

The Bot is free and provided as-is. It is run by an individual, so there is no promise that it will always be online, fast, or free of bugs. Features can change or be removed at any time, and the Bot may be rate limited or stop working when free AI services have limits or outages.

7. No warranty and limit of liability

The Bot is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent allowed by law, the creator of the Bot is not responsible for any loss, damage, or problems that come from using, or not being able to use, the Bot, including errors in translations.

8. Ending use

You can stop using the Bot at any time by removing it from your server. We can also stop providing the Bot to anyone, at any time, if these terms are broken or if we need to shut it down.

9. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. If you keep using the Bot after a change, that means you accept the new terms.
